you're doing great sugar
We placed our restless bodies onto the cool wooden floor and took deep, concentrated breaths. The walls were scribbled on with colors smeared by the hand of a modern artist. A record spun relentlessly from a box and our ears were filled with music throughout the night. The air tasted like stale cigarettes and our hair was heavy from the mid-July heat. Dim light from the candles wrapped around our bodies like honey. Your eyes were five different shades of green and amber and you looked at me in a way I've never felt before. You were never transparent like the rest of them, but layered, deep, and troubled. Our feet may have been on the ground but you and I, well we were somewhere else. Your blushed lips pressed against mine like silk and I forgot who I was or had ever been before then. You ran your fingers through my tangled auburn hair. We opened the glass doors as the sheer white curtains blew softly and silently in the wind. The sky was grey, the sea was silver. Your skin tasted like salt and sweat and I'll never forget how hard it was to forget you.

static
your words are lost in a place with infinite distraction narrowed down to a moment where eyes meet and lips move well we can't even concentrate on what is right in front of us anymore the clouds are just moving because the wind tells them to they are not a playground up high like we thought am i foolish
for thinking we could create our own reality and i forget what is supposed to be important repression is vigorous once you allow it to be am i selfish for wanting to go back in time to tell my former that it just wasn't worth it that it was as simple as it ever could have been but the greyscale was not the same as black and white that the little things they thought didn't matter were of the utmost importance all those people scattered around like pinpricks it's as if they were all just running in place eating uncertainty and drinking bad advice did you read the news the world is ending tomorrow evening but we're all too fucked up to believe it

dance dance dance dance dance to the radio
street lights heavy nights this air never lets me breathe
your lips on my back your hand wraps around my ribs
fingertips fingertips they slide inside and we collapse
on top of a building the stars don't shine like they
the stars don't shine like they used to
your lips on my back your hand wraps around my ribs
fingertips fingertips they slide inside and we collapse
on top of a building the stars don't shine like they
the stars don't shine like they used to

Lua
Crashing in your direction
I thought I'd had it all wrong
and I do
I do I do I do
I wish I believed I did
but there you were
standing right in front of me
and the stars whispered
'finally'.
